Made up of 8 tons of medical equipment, constituted with the Ministry of Labor, Health and Solidarity, this humanitarian shipment aims to respond to the needs expressed by the Egyptian authorities and to help Egyptian hospitals treat the wounded evacuated from Gaza.
Since last October, France has been particularly mobilizing to provide health aid to the civilian population of Gaza, in close coordination with Egypt. The deployment in the port of Al-Arish of the French ship Dixmude thus enabled the reception of 1,000 patients and the care by a multidisciplinary civil-military medical team of 124 injured civilians evacuated from Gaza for 2 months. France also transported nearly 1,000 tonnes of humanitarian cargo to Egypt, through 13 air and maritime operations, including medicines, nutritional supplements and tents, with the support of the Egyptian authorities and the Egyptian Red Crescent. France has also launched a medical evacuation program for injured Palestinian children, which has made it possible to date 9 Palestinian children to be treated in French hospitals. In order to support the Egyptian health system, which is heavily strained by the reception of injured people in the context of the humanitarian crises in Gaza and Sudan, France will strengthen its medical and hospital cooperation with Egypt.
